My installation, The Chapel of Imagination is an attempt to create a counterweight to Russian authoritarianism. It is an unconventional sacred space, subverting and re-imagining Russian folktales through a mix of animation, projection mapping, and sculptural objects. My Chapel utilizes joy, humor, and imagination to counteract the strict, critical, and rigid forces the oppressive system. The design of The Chapel of Imagination reimagines the layout of the traditional orthodox church and is based on the interconnectedness of religion, ideology, and culture. It investigates their influence upon one another and the way they affect the body and psyche.
